Impact Wrench Rating review and Consider All Before Purchasing
There are many things you should take into consideration before you spend your money on tools… any kind of tools. Even a reasonably priced tool is expensive and you don’t want to get more, or less, tool than you need. One of the things you should look at is any impact wrench rating and reviews that other people have made.
A good impact wrench rating is only the starting point though. There are still many other things you need to take into consideration.
In this article, I will list several things that you should know about and take into account before making your purchase. These tips will help ensure that you get the wrench you need and that it provides all the power and features that you will need (without paying more for a lot of features you don’t need).
Here are the things you need to consider before you pull out your wallet:
1. One common problem is that people get a wrench that does not provide enough power. Typically, this is a more common problem than someone getting a wrench that is too powerful.
Or, on the other side of the coin, many people figure out that the biggest is the best. Not necessarily. What you really need to do is to figure out the size of the nuts and bolts you will using your wrench on the most often and go from there.
2. Once you know what size wrench you will get you to need to figure out the best size air compressor you will need (assuming that you get an air compression impact wrench rather than an electric or cordless model).
Your air compressor is your power source and you want to make sure that you can provide your impact wrench with all the power it needs… until the job is finished.
If the air compressor can’t provide all the compressed air your wrench needs to get the job done, your wrench will lose power and you won’t be able to finish the job until later.
Make sure that any air compressor will supply a minimum of 90 psi for as long as you will need it to finish the job.
3. The last thing to keep in mind is the power of your new impact wrench. It can be a tough thing to figure out since there is a difference between the “max torque” and the “working torque” so it
can be difficult to estimate just what you will need for any given job.
Since most manufacturers don’t tell you what the “working torque” is, you are mostly on your own.
To remove lug nuts from most light trucks and cars a safe bet is to get a wrench with a max torque of up to 500 lbs.
That way, even if the lug nuts are totally rusted and frozen, you should have enough torque to get them off with your wrench.
There are many factors that should go into an impact wrench rating, these are just some of them. Make sure you are well informed about what you will need, what you won’t need, and how it all comes together so you don’t spend more than necessary.
