High Impact Wrench Used By Mechanics Primarily
A high impact wrench, or impact wrench, is a tool used by mechanics primarily, though it can have some uses in other forms of construction as well.
This high impact wrench is used to help loosen and tighten bolts. You will most likely have heard an impact wrench before at your local tire store or car maintenance center.
Do you remember that annoying high pitched whine you heard (and no, I don’t mean your kids in a candy store!), that was probably an impact wrench.
These tools are handy in many ways, as I said above, but one of the things they work great for is to loosen and re-tighten lug nuts when changing a tire.
Just imagine how great it would be to have a tool like that right in the trunk of your car. The next time you had a flat and the weather was bad (and we all know the weather is always bad when you get a flat!) think how much easier changing your tire would be if you had an impact wrench in the trunk!
High Impact Wrench Used By Mechanics Primarily
Well dream no more my friends, the future is here. Seriously, today there are many makes and models of cordless or battery operated impact wrenches.
It is no longer necessary to invest in an expensive and bulky compressed air unit in order to power your impact wrench. Today you can use a rechargeable battery or just plug it into your cigarette lighter.
And, even though it used to be that you would sacrifice power as well as increase the weight and awkwardness of a cordless impact wrench, that is no longer the case.
Today’s models are not only lighter than those of years ago, but they are also still full-featured and full-powered, even though they are portable.
So, you might be wondering, what is the catch? Well, the “catch” is that this combination of price and portability doesn’t come cheap.
In most cases – though you should always look around yourself – you will pay more for a high powered portable impact wrench than you would for an equivalent air compression model.
The type of impact wrench that you get, really depends not only on your budget, though that will be a big factor, but on the types of uses, you have for an impact wrench.
If you only balance your tires once a year or change your brakes every couple of years, it really doesn’t make a lot of sense to pay big bucks for an air compressor and a high powered impact wrench.
In a case like that, you may be better off getting a cordless model. Even though they tend to be more expensive, not having to get a compressed air tank may make you break even or even come out a little ahead with the cordless model.
If you don’t have to spend a lot more, and you still can get the portability and convenience of not having to be tied to the compressed air tank, this may be the perfect high impact wrench for you.
